Athys Recovery Services Launches 3,000-Hectare Biodiversity Restoration and Reforestation Program in Argentina, in Partnership with Sofia Commodities

Athys Recovery Services is pleased to announce the initiation of a large Biodiversity Restoration and Reforestation Program in Argentina, developed in collaboration with its local partner, Sofia Commodities.

The program, located in the Santiago del Estero province, will restore 3,000 hectares of degraded land that was deforested for agricultural activities and commercial cattle-breeding.

Athys and Sofia have acquired the degraded land and will implement a program focused on soil rehabilitation, a complete reforestation of native species, and the comprehensive restoration and monitoring of biodiversity.

Developed in full compliance with the highest environmental and social standards, the program will be certified under Verra’s Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) and the Climate, Community & Biodiversity (CCB) standards.

This initiative is projected to sequester more than 2.5 million tCO2e over 30 years.

The project is supported and financed by a leading European impact asset management and sustainable investment group.
